What is LUNA?

LUNA is a youth organisation dedicated to empowering young girls through traditional values, cultural education, and community building. With a focus on femininity, nurturing leadership, and a deep respect for heritage, LUNA provides a supportive environment for girls to eventually grow into confident, compassionate women and mothers of the nation.

Our programs are designed to instill a sense of pride in family, tradition, and self-reliance, all while fostering a connection to the past and a strong sense of purpose for the future. Through a range of activities that encourage creativity, leadership, and service, LUNA offers a unique opportunity for girls to thrive and become active contributors to their communities.

Creating a Viable Alternative

Modern Australian girls are increasingly detached from the values of family, motherhood, and community.
Many young women lack the mentorship, guidance, and opportunities to embrace their roles as future mothers and nurturers.
As society shifts away from traditional values, fewer women are choosing to have children, and the importance of family life is fading.
LUNA provides girls with a structured path to womanhood, fostering a deep connection to family, community, and tradition.
Rooted in timeless wisdom and the nurturing roles of women throughout history, we cultivate strong, compassionate leaders who understand the power of motherhood and the strength of community.

Ages 5–7
Foundations of Femininity

Introduction to Care: Simple nurturing activities, such as taking care of plants or pets.
Crafts & Homemaking: Basic crafting like sewing, knitting, and creating home decorations.
Outdoor Play: Light outdoor activities to foster an appreciation for nature.
Storytelling & Tradition: Learning about family values and cultural stories through play.

Ages 8–10
Strength in Growth

Foundations of Motherhood: Learning basic caregiving and empathy through role-play and group activities.
Basic Homemaking: Helping with simple household tasks like cooking or cleaning.
History & Heritage: Exploring traditions, values, and historical figures who shaped their community.
Community Service: Participating in small local volunteering activities, like assisting neighbors or helping with school events.

Ages 11–13
The Mother’s Path

Child-Rearing Skills: Practicing responsible roles, such as babysitting or helping with younger children.
Advanced Homemaking: Learning to cook, organize, and manage home responsibilities.
Cultural & Historical Learning: In-depth study of women’s historical roles in building communities.
Community Projects: Organizing and participating in local service projects like charity events or environmental clean-ups.

Ages 14–17
Leaders & Nurturers

Leadership in Family & Community: Leading groups, supporting younger members, and organizing events or service projects.
Motherhood Preparation: Deepening understanding of mothering, emotional intelligence, and communication skills.
Advanced Homemaking & Arts: Learning advanced cooking, sewing, and event management.
Cultural & Historical Leadership: Studying and embodying the roles of women in history, focusing on leadership and community-building.

Mother’s Cross

“A Heart that Nurtures and Cares.”

Awarded for exceptional nurturing skills, embodying the true essence of motherhood through care, love, and responsibility.

Requires:

-Demonstrate consistent care for others in the group, especially younger members.
-Assist with childcare or mentoring younger girls.
-Actively show responsibility in creating a safe, supportive environment.
-Share knowledge of early childhood development with peers.

Protector

“A Shield & Guardian of the Family.”

Awarded for bravery and responsibility in protecting others, ensuring safety, and standing up for what is right.

Requires:

-Actively help safeguard the physical and emotional well-being of younger members.
-Lead by example in upholding group rules and values.
-Assist with tasks that ensure the group’s security and safety during outings or activities.
-Show courage in confronting negative influences and standing firm in values.

Seamstress

“Crafting with Skill, Threading with Care.”

Awarded for mastering the art of sewing, mending, and clothing creation, promoting resourcefulness and the ability to contribute to the home.

Requires:

-Complete a sewing project, such as a piece of clothing or household item.
-Help teach younger members basic sewing and mending skills.
-Demonstrate creativity and attention to detail in your work.
-Assist in the creation of community or group items like banners or uniforms.

Community Pillar

“Building the Foundation for Growth and Support.”

Awarded for leadership in organizing and participating in local community service, creating a solid foundation for the group.

Requires:

-Initiate or help organise a community service project.
-Participate in at least two volunteer events per term.
-Demonstrate strong teamwork and responsibility in a leadership role.
-Actively contribute to group events, ensuring the success of each.

Homekeeper

“The Heart of the Home, The Keeper of Order.”

Awarded for mastering the skills of household management, including cleaning, organizing, and creating a welcoming, functional home environment.

Requirements:

-Demonstrate leadership in household chores and responsibilities.
-Help with organizing or hosting a community or group event.
-Teach younger members about the importance of order and cleanliness in the home.
-Show initiative in maintaining a pleasant and functional environment.

Gardener

“Rooted in the Earth, Nurturing Life.”

Awarded for learning the basics of plant care, promoting sustainability, and understanding food production.

Requires:

-Start and maintain a small garden, whether flowers, herbs, or vegetables.
-Share gardening tips and knowledge with the group.
-Participate in community gardening or sustainability projects.
-Understand the environmental benefits of growing and caring for plants.

Culinary Artist

“Nourishing the Body, Creating with Love.”

Awarded for developing culinary skills, preparing healthy, nourishing meals, and embracing the art of cooking with passion.

Requires:

-Successfully prepare a meal for the group or family.
-Demonstrate knowledge of nutritious, wholesome ingredients.
-Teach others how to cook or provide tips on meal preparation.
-Contribute to a group meal, showcasing culinary creativity.

Storyteller

“Preserving the Past, Sharing the Legacy.”

Awarded for embracing and sharing cultural heritage through storytelling, passing on traditions to the next generation.

Requires:

-Share at least two traditional stories with the group or family.
-Actively engage in storytelling during group gatherings.
-Encourage younger members to share their own stories or traditions.
-Document and preserve cultural stories for future generations.

Sisterhood

“The Bond that Unites, The Strength that Supports.”

Awarded for fostering strong friendships and bonds with fellow members, promoting unity and mutual support.

Requires:

-Be actively involved in group activities and support peers through challenges.
-Provide mentorship to younger members, offering guidance and encouragement.
-Assist in organizing social or group bonding activities.
-Demonstrate loyalty and a commitment to the group’s values.

Handywoman

“Fixing the Broken, Making Things Whole.”

Awarded for learning the basics of home repair, maintenance, and the ability to solve practical problems.

-Successfully complete at least one small home repair or maintenance task.
-Demonstrate problem-solving skills in everyday situations.
-Teach others how to perform basic repairs.
-Lead by example in maintaining a well-functioning home.

Educator

“Sharing Knowledge, Shaping Minds.”

Awarded for taking on the role of teacher, guiding younger members with wisdom and patience.

Requires:

-Lead a group session, teaching younger members a skill or concept.
-Help with organizing educational activities or workshops.
-Demonstrate leadership in guiding others and sharing knowledge.
-Actively participate in helping peers succeed academically or socially.

Compassionate Heart

“Kindness in Action, Empathy in Motion.”

Awarded for consistently showing empathy and compassion for others, offering emotional and physical support.

Requires:

-Offer emotional support to a fellow member during a challenging time.
-Lead by example in showing kindness and understanding.
-Help resolve conflicts within the group or community.
-Assist others in need, providing comfort and care when required.

Wellness Guide

“Strong in Body, Balanced in Mind.”

Awarded for promoting physical health, mental wellness, and overall well-being.

Requires:

-Participate in fitness or health activities regularly.
-Encourage others to focus on mental and physical wellness.
-Demonstrate balanced decision-making in health-related choices.
-Lead group wellness activities, promoting overall health in the community.
